Janis Goad

Janis has been aware of prana, or life energy since early in life when she was gifted with a childhood in a rural environment surrounded by Canadian Shield forest on the shore of the Ottawa River, where she first experienced the expansiveness and attunement to universal energies that occur when people live close to nature. She practiced Tai Chi for many years before being introduced to yoga at a meditation retreat in a Thai monastery, where a retired nurse and Zen master from Arizona led a yoga class after the first period of sitting every morning to help balance the long periods of seated meditation with the meditation in movement which is yoga. The practice changed her life. She continued to practice for the next twenty years or so while following a varied career as a teacher, student, traveler, parent, and seeker of understanding. She trained as a yoga teacher at the Prana Yoga and Zen Centre in Vancouver, and at the Sivananda Ashram in Val Morin, Quebec.
